  • Main deck and lower lobe cargo management, coordinating daily deliveries and transfer of 787 Production Articles and other Boeing Enterprise cargo to/from the Dreamlifter Operations Center, (DOC). 
  • Management of dedicated, Boeing fixed assets/facilities and unique ground support equipment, (UGSE) including light maintenance. 
  • Oversight of sub-contracted operations to ensure safety and performance obligations are met. 
  • Assist business and scheduling teams with optimizing cargo logistics and development of new cargo projects. 
  • Prompt communication and coordination amongst multiple, international stakeholders is key to this position.  In addition to working closely with DLO staff and management in the USA, candidate will be required to work with all Boeing heavy manufacturing partners, Japan’s Commercial Aircraft Corporation (CAC), airport and prefecture officials, Japan customs as well as the airline contracted to operate the Large Cargo Freighter, (LCF) fleet.  

 Management and administrative skills required to be successful include:

  • Leadership experience and skills are preferred in international team environment Airlines, GHA and Logistic fields. 
  • Candidate will have a significant financial/accounting obligation to develop annual operating budget and tracking actual expenses to forecast.  Developing bid specifications for new equipment or services, submitting purchase orders and the review of all monthly invoices. 
  • Position requires advanced problem solving and communication abilities, (both verbal and technical writing).  The preferred candidate will have experience resolving schedule integration and logistic issues, writing and implementing standard operating procedures, (SOP) and developing/reviewing contracts. 
  • Candidate may be required to provide tours to Boeing personnel, external organizations, including local airport and government officials.    
  • Fostering of business relationships and methods to enhance operational efficiency.  
  • Candidate will be required to assist with providing access to visiting Boeing and contract service teams who periodically visit the DOC. Candidate must also be able to qualify / operate a forklift, (training will be provided).  
  • As a member of the Dreamlifter Operations, (DLO) organization, regular reporting and teleconferences to USA based team members is required as well as travel to the USA several times per year, (10% of the time).

Additional Information Dreamlifter Operations is seeking a candidate that is looking to positively influence the 787 Production system with their knowledge and enthusiasm for aviation.  This dynamic role should be considered a significant, long term component of our Dreamlifter Operations plan.         Employment may be offered on a long-term basis, or as a fixed-term one-year contract, depending on business need Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Japan. Boeing will not seek immigration and labor sponsorship for any applicants; this is the responsibility of the job candidate. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S.-based payroll. RELOCATION BENEFITS IF INDICATED ARE LIMITED TO IN-COUNTRY MOVES AND ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR OVERSEAS RELOCATION. THERE IS NO EXPATRIATE PACKAGE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be proficient in both Japanese and English language utilization (speaking, reading, writing, providing translation) 
  • Candidate must be proficient utilizing Microsoft Office tools, (Excel and PowerPoint at a minimum). 
  • Candidate must be familiar with airline cargo and ground handling operations as well as the regulatory requirements. Handling experience with B747F or other freighter aircraft is preferred. Extensive experience in the logistics / freight forwarding industry may be considered as partial substitute for the lack of aircraft ground handling experience.
