Revenue Manager, Japan (Pricing and Revenue Management)

The Revenue Management team is responsible for maximizing seat revenue on every flight, every day, within the Jetstar route network. The group is comprised of primary functions -Revenue Management and Pricing- that work closely together to ensure that Jetstar is selling the optimal number of seats across the spectrum of prices available based on customer demand.

We currently have an opportunity for a commercially driven individual to join our Revenue Management Team as a Revenue Manager, Japan based at our office in Tokyo, Japan. The key functions of this role are to develop and implement yield & seat factor management strategies to optimise the passenger revenue performance for Jetstar’s commercial flights and liaise with stakeholders across the region.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the aviation industry, have strong numerical and analytical skills and the ability to drive business solutions based on sound analysis. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be a team player and have strong communication skills.

Reporting to the Manager- Revenue Management Asia, the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Accountable for developing and implementing Jetstar’s yield & seat factor management strategy within the Japanese market
  • Directs the deployment of internal resources to ensure optimal revenue capture by Jetstar, this includes:
    • Identification and effective communication of network opportunities and challenges and proposed actions in collaboration with the Network Planning team
    • Optimisation of the Jetstar distribution and channel strategy whilst balancing revenue needs with long term distribution targets in collaboration with the Japan Marketing Manager and Senior Sales Executives
    • Leading the development and implementation of Jetstar’s promotional strategy to ensure maximum revenue stimulation and minimal dilution. This includes coordinating its implementation across Pricing and Revenue Management, Marketing, Sales and Jetstar Japan Commercial teams
  • Supports the Manger, Revenue Management Asia in creation of the regional revenue management strategies in North Asia
  • Accountable for turning customer insight intelligence into incremental revenue growth from a Pricing and Revenue Management perspective
  • Lead Jetstar’s Pricing and Revenue Management contribution to the dual brand strategy between Jetstar and Japan Airlines
  • Effectively communicates revenue performance, strategy and competitive market dynamics to leadership and key stakeholders and leadership including Jetstar Japan CEO and Head of Commercial
  • Manages a team of analysts, and ensures they have the right training and tools to achieve optimal revenue outcomes while supporting their personal development
  • Takes independent responsibility for the planning and delivery of key team projects 
  • Works closely with other members of the commercial team to coordinate revenue initiatives and ensure revenue targets are met
  • Assists in the development and testing of new and current inventory management processes and systems 
  • Consistently looks for opportunities to improve our processes and make our day-to-day job more efficient

To be considered for this role you will have:

  •  Strong Japanese and English language proficiency
  •  A Degree in business/finance/commerce required
  •  3+ years of team leadership experience 
  •  5+ years experience in a commercial or analytical role
  •  Previous revenue management experience highly preferred 
  •  Demonstrated numerical literacy and business acumen
  •  Well- developed numerical literacy
  •  Advanced Excel, PowerPoint & PowerBI skills essential
  •  Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  •  Time management and organisational abilities
  •  Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision
  •  Available for up to 6 months of training in our Melbourne office and occasional travel to Jetstar’s Melbourne HQ
